Photographs supplied by Sandra Brown
McLean Place commemorates brothers Gordon and Lex McLean, local graziers who were known for their philanthropy in the town of Blackall. Portrait busts of the two brothers stand at the entrance to McLean Place.
Money from selling their properties was used to set up the bursary in their name at the Blackall State School with the aim of helping students reach their dream of going to university. Lex and Gordon McLean made many anonymous donations to the retirement village and to the ambulance committee as well other organisations.
