The gates were erected in memory of Nurse Elizabeth Rosen who died in 1943.

She spent the early part of her life in Bendigo, and completed her nursing training at the Queen Victoria Hospital in Launceston, Tasmania.  On arriving in the District she assisted Nurse Erwood attending to patients by bicycle.  She helped establish the "Carnarvon" Private Hospital in Koondrook where she worked with patients from 1923 to her death in 1943.  In that time she delivered more than 1,000 babies.
