The tree was planted in 1973 in recognition of the services rendered to the staff and hospital by Dr A .C. Herrington. The tree was donated by nurses who were trained between 1926 and 1973.
Dr Herrington was a lecturer and life member of the St John's Ambulance Association in Bowral.
