The plaque commemorates John `Chesty` Bond who was killed in action in the Vietnam War. 

Warrant Officer Class 2 John A. Bond, an armoured corps Advisor attached to the 7 South Vietnamese Cavalry, was killed in action at 5.30 am during a enemy mortar and ground attack in Quang Tri Province, 150 kilometres north of Da Nang, South Vietnam, on ANZAC Day 1969.
