Major George Albert Eddy Print Page 
The brass plaque commemorates Major George Eddy, a former resident of Beaufort. It was erected by the residents and unveiled by Lieutenant-Colonel Williams of the 3rd Battalion Ballarat on the 29th April 1901.
Major Eddy was killed in action at Rensburg, South Africa in 1900 during the Boer War. The tablet was originally placed in the Shire Hall underneath a lifelike portrait presented by the Fiery Creek Lodge of Freemasons.
