The plaque commemorates Lieutenant Colonel Reginald Ernest Wall who was the Commanding Officer of the 2nd / 23rd Battalion from November 1942 to September 1943.

He was killed in action at Red Beach, Lae on the 4th September 1943.

To honour  Lt. Colonel R. E. Wall, M. I. D. who was their Commanding Officer  November, 1942 to September,1943.

Campaigns : Tobruk, El Alamein, Middle East, Lae, New Guinea

Lt. Colonel Wall was killed in action at Red Beach, Lae on 4th September, 1943.
