Flight Sergeant Ken Banfield Print Page
The plaque underneath the clock, given by the citizens of Dudley, commemorates Ken Banfield who was killed in World War Two.
Sid Banfield donated a clock to the school in memory of his son, Ken Banfield, who enlisted in World War Two as soon as he gained his Leaving Certificate. Ken joined the RAAF becoming a Flight Sergeant receiving his wing from King George VI. He was killed in an aircraft accident in England when Oxford Bomber hit power lines whilst attempting to land on a road on a foggy night. He was just 20 years old.
