The plaque commemorates Lieutenant Colonel Reverend Walter Penfield Brown who was known to all as "Padre Brown" a friend of the soldiers.
Padre Brown devoted had devoted 15 years of his life as a military chaplain and had regularly visited many military camps and hospitals. His greatest work was done at the Enoggera Army Camp with the 9th Battalion and the Rosemount Military Hospital. Padre Brown also served with the Army Medical Corps during the Boxer Rebellion. He died in 1931.
