The plaque commemorates James Graham Hunter, Trevor Francis and Arthur Wilfred Wheatley, who were students of King`s College who were killed in action in World War One.
The memorial tablet was unveiled by the Reverend A. C. Place, President of the Methodist Conference, on the 31st August 1921. The first who laid down his life was James Graham Hunter, a theological student, who was killed at Gallipoli on the 28th June 1915. Captain Trevor Francis, of Ipswich, who had excelled in sports was killed at Bapaume on the 14th March 1917 while Arthur Wheatley who had entered the Methodist ministry in Melbourne, lost his life in Meberen, France on the 25th April 1918.
