 The plaque commemorates Private Tommy Purcell, an aboriginal resident of Mudgeeraba who enlisted and died of wounds during World War One. The plaque has an image of Tommy Purcell in his World War One army uniform.
The plaque also pays tribute to Mudgeeraba resident Andrew Wilkie and all aboriginal diggers who fought and died in defence of their country.
