The plaque commemorates Dr James Pestell and his wife Agnes who were foundation members of the congregation of the Kyneton Congregational (Independent) Church. Dr Pestell died in 1899.
Note: The Bluestone Theatre was the former Congregational Church. Congregationalists were also known as Independents.
