The stained glass window commemorates Brother Bernard Rickards (1924 - 1968).
Bernard Rickards was born in Birmingham, United Kingdom. As a boy, he migrated to Australia and served in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War Two. He became a Missionary of the Sacred Heart (MSC) at the end of the war, professed in 1947.
He served at Downlands College for a few years but spent most of his religious life on Palm Island, in eastern Papua and the Northern Territory. He died in Darwin Hospital in 1968.
