The plaque commemorates Samuel Braithwaite Broadbent, a member of the congregation who died in 1914. Mr Broadbent was a secretary and member of the St James Branch of the Church of England Men`s Society.

To the glory of God and in memory of Samuel Braithwaite Broadbent, who departed this life June 18th, 1914.

Aged 56 years.

For many years an active worker in St James Church.

This memorial is inscribed as a mark of brotherly esteem by the men of the Congregation.
