The marble tablet was erected by the teachers and scholars of the Sabbath Schools to commemorate Arthur Gravely, their secretary for 10 years who died in 1852.

The teachers and scholars of the Sabbath Schools connected with this place of worship have erected this tablet to the memory of Arthur Gravely who was an exemplary member of the Church of Christ
And also the devoted and efficient Secretary of these schools during the period of ten years.
In the midst of great usefulness and with the prospect of a long and honourable Christian and mercantile career he was suddenly called away from the cares and anxieties of life, leaving a widow and three children to mourn this loss of a most loving husband and father on the 31st of October 1852.
Work while it is called today, for the night cometh in which no man can work.
