Cypress trees, planted at the front entry to the church by the Womens Guild, are in memory of Alice Kirke, their late president.
Dr Alice Kirke was closely associated with the Presbyterian Church in North Queensland and at Ipswich and Wynnum. She practised in Ipswich for 20 years and acted as a consultant shortly before her death in 1941. She was the wife of the Reverend G.K. Kirke.
