The tablet was erected by the church in memory of Robert Charles Harris who was warden of St Matthew's Church. The tablet also is in memory of his son, Robert J. Harris who died in World War One.
Robert Harris was a journalist and editor of the local newspaper and held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was actively involved in the church and the community.
