Jeremiah RolfePrint Page
Plaque commemorates Jeremiah Rolfe, the first European settler in the district.
In 1854, Jeremiah Rolfe arrived from Victoria, establishing a station on Mistake Creek, west of Clermont. He is honoured as the first European settler in the district. When he discovered that his station "Pioneer" was not on the Belyando River, as he had first presumed, but on a tributary, he named the tributary, Mistake Creek.
