James (Judy) MastersPrint Page 
The monument commemorates James ("Judy") Masters 1892-1955), former soccer player who captained the Australia National Association football team in five matches in 1923 and 1924, and in total appeared 22 times for Australia including six full international matches.
He also worked as a miner at the Corrimal coal mine, and was master of the Balgownie Citizens' Band. He served with the Australian Imperial Force in World War One from 1915 to 1918, serving at Gallipoli and in France.
Judy Masters Oval at Balgownie is also named in his honour.
