The statue commemorates Rugby Union player Trevor Allen (1926 - 2007).
Trevor Allen was Australian rugby union's outstanding player after World War Two, a masterful centre with a complete range of attributes - strong defence, safe hands, sharpness in attack, composure under pressure. He was barely 21 when he became Australia's captain. After receiving many offers, Allan switched to rugby league in 1950.
