Decima NormanPrint Page
The plaque commemorates Decima Norman (1909 - 1983), a Western Australian athlete who was the star of the 1938 Empire Games held at the Sydney Cricket Ground. She won gold medals in the 100 yards, 220 yards, long jump, two relays and in winning the 100 yards she beat the world record holder.
She might well have won Olympic Gold in 1940 if those Games had not been cancelled due to World War Two.
