The plaque commemorates Australian cricketer Doug Walters.
Doug Walters's entertaining batting and down to earth manner made him a crowd favourite at the SCG for the whole of the time he played for Australia, from 1965-66 to 1980-81. He was especially popular on the Hill, which unofficially was proclaimed the Doug Walters Stand by a banner in 1975.
