Stathi KatsidisPrint Page
A plaque in jockey's room at Eagle Farm Racecourse commemorates Stathi Katsidis.
Stathi Katsidis was an Australian jockey who died suddenly in October 2010. In the past, Katsidis had battled weight and drug problems. He served a nine-month ban after testing positive for ecstasy in 2008, but had made a successful comeback. Toowoomba-born Katsidis clocked up more than 170 winners in 2009. In January 2010, he rode filly Military Rose to victory in the Gold Coast's Magic Millions and was due to ride in the Melbourne Cup.
