The monument was originally erected to commemorate those who died in service or were killed in action during World War One. It was unveiled by Mr Groves M.L.A. on the 9th February 1921 and contained the names of 36 soldiers. Additional names were added to commemorate those from World War Two and the Vietnam War.
It is a granite cupola on four red granite columns on a granite column on a three-stepped stone base. The cupola is topped with a cross.
