An avenue of trees was planted on the 13th July 1918 to commemorate those who served in World War One. In the 1960`s due to road widening the trees were removed and a memorial was erected at the northern and southern ends of the avenue.
Frankston Avenue of Honour was planted in memory of those enlisted from the Frankston District in World War One. The Avenue of 144 Australian Gum trees were planted by the soldier's relatives on the 13th July 1918. The first tree was planted by the Governor and bore the name of Private A. Bolger, the first Frankston soldier to lose his life.
