The hall was erected ito commemorate those from the district who died in service or were killed in action during the South African (Boer) Wwar and World War One.
The dedication of the Kooreh soldiers' hall took place in the presence of a large gathering of people. The service was arranged by the St. Arnaud branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association.
