Darlington Point War MemorialPrint Page
The monument commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. The memorial was originally erected in memory of those who died in service or were killed in action during World War One.
A solemn and impressive ceremony was held at Darlington Point on Saturday last, when the monument erected in memory of fallen soldiers was unveiled. The monument is erected in front of the Shire Offices. It takes the form of a broken column of polished Bowral trachite. The column is mounted on a base of West Maitland freestone, consisting of two flights of steps; the whole resting on a foundation of reinforced concrete. The monument, which was engraved and erected by Mr. F.Lindley, of Narrandera, is a beautiful piece of workmanship, and was much admired by those present.
