The gates at the entrance to Prince`s Park were erected by the Red Cross Society to record the names of the men and women of the Borough of Maryborough who enlisted in World War One.

This memorial erected by Red Cross in 1926 and was restored in 1991 with loan assistance from Central Goldfields Restoration Fund.
The memorial was rededicated at a ceremony on 23 September 1991.
