Significant and major achievements by this trade union include the following

- Elimination of colonialism
- Elimination of racism
- Wage parity with mainland Australia
- Migration Act PR status for Christmas Island
- Reopening of the phosphate mine in 1990
- Fair Housing Allocation

The building was burnt down on 17 / 09 / 91.  The cause of the fire is unknown.
