In the Year of Great Jubilee
the
People of the Archdiocese of Adelaide
honour and celebrate
the life of the
Aboriginal Catholic Community
We, the people who worship God in this sacred place,
acknowledge the Kaurna People
as the original owners and custodians of this land.
Our hope is for a united Australia
that respects this land of ours;
values the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage;
and provides justice and equity for all.
(Australian Declaration towards Reconciliation)
The Church herself in Australia will not be fully
the Church that Jesus wants her to be
until you have made your contribution to her life
and until that contribution
has been joyfully received by others.
(Pope John Paul II, to Indigenous Australians in Alice Springs 29. 11. 86)
Unveiled by
Archbishop Leonard Faulkner DD
