This memorial rock was placed here to mark the one hundred years of St Anne's Church Merriwa, built and opened in 1881.
It was consecrated and the stone altar dedicated on October 10th 1981.
May this piece of local basalt remind the people of this Parish of the rock-like faith and devotion of the pioneers of this District who bought the faith and its practice here.
Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church.
I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven
