The Memorial commemorates Tasmanian Police Officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The memorial was commissioned to provide police officers, their relatives, friends, visitors, colleagues and future generations with the opportunity to reflect on the lives of the police officers and recognise that their sacrifice is not forgotten.
A symbolic recognition of the Tasmanian Police members who have died in the line of duty is commemorated with the lighting of a candle representing each member.
