Stones used in the construction of the old Ipswich Railway Bridge were re-erected at the site to commemorate the bicentenary of the arrival of the First Fleet in Australia.  

The Bicentenary marked the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney in 1788. Captain Arthur Phillip (1738–1814), commander of the First Fleet, established the foundations of a British colony at Sydney Cove on the 26 January 1788.

These stones were quarried from Denmark Hill Ipswich and used in the construction of the old Ipswich Railway Bridge in 1854, were re-erected on this site by the Rotary Club of Booval Inc on the 28th June 1988.

To commemorate the Bi-Centenary of Australia.
