The memorial commemorates the pioneer women of Berri and District.
The Berri CWA has indicated that it will close at the end of this financial year. With 64 years behind the group, Berri CWA President, Peg Mortimer has requested council erect a small monument, dedicated to the female pioneers of the area, while the group`s hall has also been inspected for other use in the future.
Berri Barmera Council chief executive officer David Beation sympathised with the group. "It is sad but it is a sign of the times unfortunately," he said.
