Pioneer Wives and Families
We honour the wives and children of the early settlers, pilots, boatmen and construction workers of the Harrington breakwaters and Crowdy Head quarrymen.
Wives of the boatmen rowed all the way to Cundletown for household provisions.
Children were expected to help with many arduous chores. Life was isolated, difficult and strenuous.
