Memorial gates commemorate Leonard Wonson for his service to the Appin Community.
Leonard Wonson was foundation President of the Appin Progress Association formed after the end of World War Two. He was also President of the Parents and Citizens Association and the Red Cross. Leonard died suddenly in 1954 at the age of 48. The Progress Association erected the memorial gates at the entrance to Appin Park in 1964.
