Tom Ohl Print Page
The park commemorates Tom Ohl.
Tom Ohl and his brother Maurie bought the butchers from Les Laver in Bluff about 1935. After Maurie bought the neighbouring general store, Tom continued running the shop along with his sons Cecil and Rodney, up until the late 1970’s. When Blackwater started to boom, they opened a second store in Mackenzie Street. Tom was integral in the growth of Bluff and commonly known as the unofficial Lord Mayor.
