The plaque commemorates Eithne Sidhu who was the inaugural Chairperson of the Renmark Rose Festival (1994 - 1997).

The Rose Festival was the brainchild of Eithne Sidhu who collaborated with David Ruston (past President of the World Federation of Rose Societies and the first President of the Australian Heritage Rose Society) to run the very first “Rose Week” in 1994. Eithne saw it as an event to bring people into the town and to promote Renmark as the Rose Capital of Australia.
