The sundial commemorates Mona "Bobby" Connelly for her service to the Oakey community.
Oakey. A farewell afternoon tea will be held on Sunday for long-time Oakey community member Bobby Connelly. Mrs Connelly and her late husband, Joe, have been stalwarts in the Oakey community for more than half a century.
The Connellys were involved in a number of enterprises in Oakey over the decades, including car and tractor dealerships, school bus runs, dairy farming, building the first motel in town and residential land development.
Mrs Connelly is moving from Oakey to an aged-care facility.
The afternoon tea will be held from 2pm at the Oakey Cultural Centre. All are welcome.
