The gates commemorate Frederick Ranson Mortlock who was a promoter of sport in the Mintaro area who died in 1936.
Mr. Frederick Ransom Mortlock, a son of the late Mr. William Tenant Mortlock, the well known pastoralist, died at Colombo on Wednesday, August 5th. Mr. Mortlock was returning to Australia from a trip abroad, and was admitted to a hospital in Colombo, where he died shortly after. He was 35 years of age and unmarried; he is a brother of Mr. J. T. Mortlock of "Martindale". Mintaro.
