A plaque commemorates George Pockett for his services as the first curator of the Alexandra Gardens. Mr Pockett died as a result of injuries received in an accident in 1922.
KEW RESIDENT BADLY INJURED. The curator of Kew Gardens, Mr. George Pockett, was riding a bicycle in Cobden street, Kew, yesterday, when he collided a motor cycle travelling in the opposite direction. He was thrown heavily to the roadway, and sustained a fractured skull and other head injuries. Mr. Pockett, who is 63 years of age, was admitted to Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.
