The fountain commemorates the services of E. J. Delany as Shire Secretary from 1912 to 1949. Delany Avenue was also named on his honour.
BRIGHT, Sunday. — Part of the Harrietville-road was named Delany-avenue yesterday by the C.R.B. chairman (Mr. D. V. Darwin), in honor of Mr. E. Delany, on his retirement from the position of shire secretary for 34 years. This was one of a series of functions held as a tribute to Mr. Delany for his work in the development of Bright.
