Henschke Hill of Grace Vineyard

A tribute to the grower families of Hill of Grace "Gnadenberg" vineyard.

Nicolaus & Rosalie Stanitzki, 1885 - 1879, and their three children from Gross Dammer, Bentschen, Posen settled at Hahndorf after their arrival in 1844 where Nicholaus became a marker gardener.  They moved to Blumberg for a brief time.  In 1855 the family move to Parrot Hill where he planted shiraz in ca 1860, known as the Grandfather Block.

Carl August & Auguste Wilhelmine Stanitzki, 1879 - 1891.

Paul Gotthard & Johanne Mathilde Henschke, 1891 - 1914.
2nd generation winemaker, planted Post Office Block 1 in 1910.

Julius Philip & Ida Maria Magdelena Henschke, 1914 - 1951

Louis Edmund & Audrey Margaret Henschke, 1951 - 1990.
Planted House Block in 1951, Church Block in 1952, Windmill Block in 1956 and Post Office Block 2 in 1965.

Cyril Alfred Henschke, 4th generation winemaker, made the first Hill of Grace in 1958.

Stephen & Prue Henschke, 5th generation winemaker and viticulturist, planted Office Block 3 in 1989, Church Block 2 in 1997.

Leanne & Christopher Henschke, 5th generation sibling owners.
