Dr Stuart Angwin Print Page 
The gates were erected by the residents of St Arnaud and District to commemorate Doctor Stuart Angwin who died in 1913.
Dr Angwin died in 1913 at the age of 48 after contracting septic poisoning from a sprained ankle. Dr Angwin practised in St Arnaud for 20 years and was an Honorary Surgeon at the local hospital. He was a well known footballer in his early life having played for Essendon and being known as "Lightning Angwin."

ST. ARNAUD. MEMORIAL GATE. It has been decided to secure designs for a gate at the Borough Gardens, at a cost of about £150, for a memorial of the late Dr Angwin.
