The Mortuary Chapel and tablet commemorate John O`Brien who died in 1898. John O`Brien bequeathed money to erect the Mortuary Chapel.

Mr. John O'Brien, an old resident of the Gilbert bequeathed money to erect a mortuary chapel in the cemetery at Navan. The ceremony took place on Sunday, 18th inst., in the presence of a large assemblage. Owing to the many engagements of His Grace in visiting congregations to assist in the reduction of the Central Debt, he sent Dr. Byrne, who, assisted by Father Lee, laid the foundation-stone.
