The Memorial was erected on the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Flynn Memorial Church in Alice Springs, in memory of Reverend Grant and his wife Erla whose ashes were interred at this spot.
Reverend Grant was a Patrol Padre of the Australian Inland Mission and the first Presbyterian MInister of the John Flynn Memorial Church.
