The plaque commemorates Alfred Traeger, the inventor of the pedal wireless who was born at Glenlee.
Alfred Traeger invented the pedal wireless in which pedals were operated by foot allowing the operator two free hands. The pedal shaft was highly geared to drive a generator, so dispensing with heavy batteries.
The radio was successful in the outback and the Flying Doctor Service, with which Traeger was involved for many years, receiving an Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) for his services. Erected during the Dimboola Shire Centenary celebrations, it is a large irregular red/brown sandstone rock set on a concrete base.
