The rose bush commemorates Emily Rose Balarezo who was a student of Highfields State School.
Four-year-old Emily Balarezo died of a mystery illness on March 10 2009 after having cold-like-symptoms, a fever, sore throat and headache just five days earlier. The exact cause of her death is inconclusive.
