The monument was erected by the Vagabonds Motorcycle Club, to commemorate Banger who was killed in a motorcycle accident on the 18th March 1978 near Cunningham's Gap.
Banger was a member of the club and part aboriginal and each year members of the club ride to the site and stamp his plaque.
