The headstone commemorates William Glennon who was killed by a falling tree in October 1889. It was erected by his employers and fellow workmen.
About 6 o'clock on Tuesday morning a shearer named J. Glennon was found lying dead on the road, about six miles from Goonoo Goonoo, where he had previously been working. He had a tree across him, as if it had fallen upon him. One end of the tree was burning. The man's horse was tied up near him. He was last seen by another shearer named Widgery on Monday. Both men were returning to Goonoo Goonoo from Tamworth, but Widgery cantered, and deceased never overtook him.
