A MONUMENT TO EARLY TIMBER WORKERS
This eight-tonne redgum stump is an example of how trees were felled in the early 1900`s. To make it easier to handle when carting and milling, early day fellers climbed above butt defects before cutting the tree down. Notches were cut up to the required height and planks inserted to stand on, enabling two men to fall the good wood using a cross cut saw
This stump was donated by Peter and Jan Greenaway, Mooralla and relocated by Ron Ainger at no cost.
